Windsor Symphony Orchestra search for new music director continues

The Windsor Symphony Orchestra is launching another season as it continues its search for a new music director.

The program for the new season leans into a theme of transition and evolution.

“The coming season is not just a season of performance, it’s a season of discovery,” said WSO board chairperson Kyle Kootstra.

Throughout the season, finalists for the position will be asked to conduct a program on stage.

“We will be welcoming finalists to the Capitol Theatre stage to conduct a main stage concert,” Kootstra said. “Audiences will be able to see the finalists and offer feedback on their experience at the concert.

The WSO is looking for a new music director after Robert Franz passed away from cancer last year.

The new season kicks off on September 26 with From Paris and Madrid, featuring Copland’s Concerto for Clarinet and Orchestra, performed by WSO clarinettist Graham Lord.

The Toldo Pops series will feature a country night, music of James Bond and music of Harry Potter.

Subscription packages are now available for sale at the WSO Box Office or online at windsorsymphony.com. Single tickets for concerts will be on sale as of July 8.
