Chatham-Kent residents will have more access to health and fitness programs at the YMCA, thanks to a recent donation from a local internet provider.
The Chatham-Kent YMCA kicked off its Community Starts Here 2023 campaign Tuesday morning with a $15,000 donation from TekSavvy Solutions Inc.
"This donation helps people attend swimming lessons, for kids to participate in summer camps, and really for the community to help improve their health and wellness to access our centre," said Amy Wadsworth, who is the general manager of the Chatham-Kent YMCA.
The funds will go toward supporting the available community programs at the Y in Chatham.
According to Wadsworth, programs are year-round, with fitness classes, camps, and a variety of other activities specific to each season.
Wadsworth said anyone is able to access the programs available at the Y, regardless of their financial situation.
"We're able to help everyone from our community, all ages, all abilities," said Wadsworth. "Regardless of their financial situation, we are able to support them and get them on the right path to health and wellness."
The Chatham-Kent YMCA has a goal of reaching $88,000 for this year's Community Starts Here campaign.
