Ryan Doyle set to exchange CK council meetings for family time

After serving on municipal council for four years, Ward 2 councillor Ryan Doyle will not be running again, instead prioritizing his family.

"I've enjoyed my time on council for the most part," laughed Doyle. "I will say it was a lot more work than I expected it to be. Way more stressful, way more hours. But overall, I did my best, and I'm happy with the job that I did."

He added that it was a huge learning curve with many ups and downs.

"It opened my eyes to how municipal government works," said Doyle. He explained that there were things he was hoping to change as soon as he got in that he later found out were impossible to change due to provincial mandates.

Doyle told CK News Today that he would "potentially" serve on council again, but with two young daughters at home, he is looking forward to some family time.

"I feel like I need to spend that time with my family, on nights and weekends, with my family more, as opposed to doing a lot of reading on the weekends," Doyle explained.

He made sure to wish luck to everyone who is running in the upcoming election, and share some advise for any new members of council.

"If you get in there, get ready to work, and, ideally, work together and get some things done for the city to keep it moving in the right direction," he continued.

Although Doyle is not running, Ward 2 still has 10 candidates, including current councillor Anthony Ceccacci, and candidates Chad Carnie, Matthew Giffin, Fred Hooper, Matt Lamarche, Denise Maynard, Albert Pilbeam, Brad Snobelen, Spencer Stinson, and Hassan Tariq.

Residents head to the polls on October 26.
