Four parks in Wallaceburg are now full of foliage after over 200 trees were planted in them.
The Greener Future initiative took place on Friday, with volunteers, students, and community partners working together to plant 270 trees at Thompson Park, MacDonald Park, Optimist Park, and Dauw Park.
"It was a wonderful example of different generations working side by side, with plenty of muddy hands, well-used gloves and a shared goal of making Wallaceburg a little greener," read a statement from NatureCK.
The planting took place over the course of four hours, and Thompson Park was the largest planting site.

"Today's little saplings could become tomorrow's favourite spots to sit, play, watch birds and discover the natural world," added NatureCK. "As these trees grow, they have the potential to provide shade on hot summer days, food and shelter for wildlife, and greener places for families to gather and children to explore."
The campaign was a partnership between NatureCK, Lower Thames Valley Conservation Authority, Enbridge Gas, Greenfield Global Chatham, UCC High School, and WDSS High School, with funds also coming from the Ministry of the Environment, Conservation, and Parks, a TogetherCK grant, the Municipality of CK, and other local supporters.
