Collision leads to assault charge

A Wardsville man is facing an assault charge after crashing his vehicle Sunday morning.

Chatham-Kent police responded just after 7:30 a.m. to a collision on Erieau Road. When officers arrived a the scene, they discovered that a vehicle had left the roadway and run into a hydro pole.

During their investigation, police determined that the involved 43-year-old man had an outstanding warrant related to a June 2023 assault investigation.

The man was arrested and remained in police custody until his bail hearing.

Dresden man arrested for b-and-e

A 39-year-old man was caught red-handed when police responded to a break-and-enter in progress.

Police were called to a Wellington Street address in Dresden just after 4:30 a.m. on Monday for a report of a person breaking into the property.

According to police, officers found the suspect with b-and-e tools and copper wiring when they arrived on the scene. Further investigation revealed that the man also had a warrant against him for failing to attend court.

The man was arrested and charged with breaking and entering.

Man faces multiple charges following warrant arrest

A Chatham-Kent police officer on patrol in Wallaceburg arrested a man wanted for failing to attend court on Sunday.

The officer spotted the man at 7:15 a.m. on McNaughton Avenue.

The 40-year-old Wallaceburg man was arrested on the strength of the warrant and taken to police headquarters. He faces charges for mischief, breaking and entering, and failing to attend court.
