A new list of names is being added to the Kent Agriculture Hall of Fame.
The Kent Agricultural Hall of Fame Association (KAHFA) has announced five new nominees to be inducted into the hall of fame this November.
This year's nominees include the late Ron Anderson of former Dover Township, the late Doug Arbour of Chatham, Diane and Robert Devolder, and Kathleen (Kay) Quinton of former Orford Township.
Anderson, who had a passion for agriculture, was a "visionary and agricultural specialist." He oversaw the industry in Chatham-Kent and helped many growers and related businesses with their growth and expansion.
Arbour helped make Chatham-Kent a safe place through ambulance services. He helped promote education and safety courses to the rural population.
The Devolders were early adopters of the latest technology to advance agriculture in efficiency, on economic returns and to improve the environmental impact on area farms.
Quinton has been a vital participant in the rural area of Palmyra through farming and leading 4H.
"She stands as a model for young farm women across rural Canada," read a KAHFA release.
The association said these inductees reflect the diverse industry of agriculture and the many ways that the rural community can be served.
An induction ceremony will be held at the Hidden Hills Golf and Country Club on November 21 and it is open to the public.
Since its inception in 1989, the Kent Agricultural Hall of Fame has inducted a total of 203 members.
