Bluewater Anglers host hatchery open house

The Bluewater Anglers are inviting the public to come out to their hatchery this weekend for their annual open house.

The tanks at the hatchery are filled to capacity with about 180 thousand salmon, brown and rainbow trout.

Board Member Ron Allison said they're in every stage of growth.

He said it's the future fish stock for the local area.

"The kids love it," said Allison. "We have a little aquarium set up in there and we have samples of all of the different fish. That gives them a chance to go nose to nose with them if they wish. They can watch them swim around and feed them and then feed the big fish in the pond. There's definitely lots to do."

The open house is being held from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.

Allison said hot dogs and other refreshments will be provided.

The hatchery is located just north of the Blue Water Bridge.
