Chatham-Kent police received information that a man was breaching his release conditions by communicating and living with his ex-girlfriend. He was on conditions not to be around or talk to.

Police entered an investigation into the allegation and attended the Chatham residence where the woman was known to live.

When officers arrived they located the man and woman together inside the residence.

The 41-year-old man was arrested and charged with failing to comply with a release order. The man was taken to police headquarters and was held for a bail hearing.

The 40-year-old woman was also arrested and charged with facilitating a breach. She was transported to police headquarters where she was processed and released with an undertaking with a future court date of October 7.

Bail Violations

Chatham-Kent police responded to the area of Romney Township Friday for a report of a man, intoxicated by alcohol, attempting to drive away from a residence.

While police were on the way to the scene they learned that the male was bound by a curfew condition from a prior release order.

Prior to police arrival, the man decided against driving and fled into a corn field.

After a search of the area using an aerial surveillance device, the 39-year-old Tillbury man was found near the residence and arrested.

He was charged with Failure to Comply with a release order. He was transported to police headquarters and held for a bail hearing.

Breach of probation/ theft

Police received a call at a Chatham retail establishment Friday that the loss prevention officer had a man in custody for an attempted theft.

When officers arrived they found the 47-year-old Chatham in custody of the loss prevention officer. The arrest was determined to be lawful and police took custody of the man and continued the arrest.

Police learned the man was bound by a probation order to not attend the business.

He was charged with theft under $5,000, possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000 and failing to comply with a probation order.

The man was taken to police headquarters and was later released on an undertaking with a future court date of October 21.
