The fifth annual Tilbury Lions Christmas Lights Festival will be even brighter than last year, with 10,000 more lights.
The free outdoor festival opens on November 24 at Tilbury Memorial Park and runs until January 5, 2024.
This year the festival will feature 60,000 lights that will turn on for the first time following the Santa Claus parade on Friday, likely somewhere between 8 p.m. and 8:30 p.m.
After that, the lights will go on between 5:30 p.m. and 11 p.m. nightly.
Visitors this year can also look forward to seeing three light tunnels, a lit-up park gazebo, multiple light sculptures, and more than 100 decorated trees.
The Tilbury Lions Holiday Hayrides will run the first three Saturdays of December from 5:30-8:30 p.m. Hayride passengers are asked to bring a non-perishable food donation for the Tilbury Goodfellows.
A Schools Night event will be held on Saturday, December 2 from 5:30-8 p.m. Four local schools will be at the park selling goodies to fundraise for their school.
There's also a scavenger hunt for anyone to take part in while walking through the park.
The festival had a record 42 sponsors this year. "We also have a wonderful group of volunteers from the Tilbury Lions Club and across Tilbury that come out every year to help decorate the park," said Jaclyn Faubert, one of the festival's committee members.
Personalized ornaments for the Cook Boys Memorial Christmas Trees will once again raise money for the Chatham-Kent Hospice.
The fundraising goal this year is $2,000.
