The Walker House Museum in Kincardine is hosting a special exhibit, "Walker House Remembers," dedicated to honoring the local men and women who served during the First and Second World Wars.
Running from November 1 through November 13, the exhibit offers community members a meaningful opportunity to reflect on the profound contributions and sacrifices made by residents during these pivotal global conflicts.
Visitors to the museum will have the chance to explore a carefully curated collection of historical artifacts from the Walker House archives.
Each displayed piece tells a personal story of endurance, bravery, and community spirit, bringing to life the real experiences of local soldiers and families who faced the realities of wartime both abroad and on the home front.
Admission to the exhibit is available by donation, making this valuable piece of local heritage accessible to all community members throughout its two-week run.
A centerpiece of the Remembrance period activities will take place on Saturday, November 7, with a dedicated speaker presentation from 3 to 4:30 p.m. Guest speaker Kent Kraemer will deliver a talk focusing on the 160th Bruce Battalion and the courage of the young men from the region who enlisted during the First World War.
Due to limited seating inside the heritage building, advance registration is required for those wishing to attend the presentation, which can be arranged directly with museum staff by phone or email.
