A popular fundraising event has raised more than ever before in support of end-of-life care and grief support in Chatham-Kent.
The Chatham-Kent Hospice Foundation (CKHF) reported that a record breaking $43,000 was raised during this year's Fall Handbags for Hospice event. That's nearly $5,000 more than last year's total.
"This is an incredible result, and we couldn't be more grateful for the generosity of our community," said Brock McGregor, CKHF's Executive Director. "Handbags for Hospice is about so much more than winning a beautiful handbag. It's about coming together to make a difference for families in our community during some of life's most difficult moments."
According to CKHF, the sold-out event saw 300 people gather at the Everest Convention Centre for an evening of fun and community spirit. Guests played Bingo for a chance to win designer handbags; they also had a shot at winning prizes through a raffle.
All of the money raised goes to support the Chatham-Kent Hospice.
The next Handbags for Hospice event will take place in Spring 2027.
