Georgian Bluffs seeks input on 2025 draft budget

Georgian Bluffs council reviewed the 2025 draft budget last week, emphasizing strategic investments in infrastructure and community enhancements.

According to a media release from the Township, the proposed budget would mean a tax increase of 5.58 per cent for residential property owners

The spending plan includes key investments in road maintenance, bridge replacements, and community facilities reflect resident feedback and support essential services. Spending on roads includes $1.5 million allocated to the Hard Top Surface Preservation Program. That amount will be increased up to $2 million a year over the next five years.

A $5.589 million investment over three years was included for the design, engineering, and replacement of critical bridges and culverts.

About $1.65 million will be directed to various recreational and park improvements. The township has submitted a grant application to the Community Sport & Recreation Infrastructure Fund (CSRIF) to cover up to 50 per cent of those costs.

Georgian Bluffs will continue its annual investment of $100,000 for sidewalk and walkway replacement, a program started in 2024.

Additionally, $123,000 is being carried forward to support the ongoing implementation of the Township’s Climate Action Plan.

Residents can review the draft budget and share feedback at the upcoming Budget Open House on December 3, 2024. Community input will guide final adjustments before the budget’s adoption in January 2025.
