Break and enter

Police received a call Saturday morning about a woman checking doors on Heather Drive in Chatham.

Officers were able to locate the woman and found her to have a laptop. Police discovered the laptop had been stolen from a shed in the area.

A Chatham woman was arrested and charged with break and enter and the laptop was returned to the owner. She was released with a future court date.

Theft, possession and bail violations

Police were called to a local grocery store on St. Clair Street Saturday afternoon when a man attempted to steal meat for the second time.

The man dropped the meat when confronted and fled in a vehicle and was stopped by police.

Officers found out the man was under house arrest for previous theft charges. He was taken to police headquarters and charged with theft and possession and failing to comply with his release order. The man was held for bail.

Warrant arrest

A suspicious male complaint was received Saturday evening in the area of Thames street in Chatham.

A man was located and provided a false name when speaking with officers. Police discovered he had two outstanding warrants.

The man was placed under arrest and resisted officers in an attempt to leave.

A 44-year-old Chatham man was charged with obstruct police and resist. He was arrested on outstanding warrants and held for bail based on the previous and new charges.
