Bruce Power to match Alberta wildfire donations

Bruce Power says it will match donations from employees and the community in hopes of easing the burden of those affected by the Alberta wildfires.

In a statement released Tuesday, Bruce Power said it would match donations dollar for dollar. It's working with the Red Cross in an attempt to raise at least $40,000.

“We’re located in a small, tight-knit community that also relies on tourism, so it’s difficult to see the effects the wildfires are having in rural Alberta and the people who live there,” said James Scongack, Bruce Power Chief Operating Officer and Executive Vice-President. “We’re here to provide support and we’re asking our employees and members of our community to also donate whatever they can.”

According to Bruce Power, the donations will be used to help those in Jasper and other areas that have been affected by the devastating wildfires. That will include financial assistance, supporting evacuees and the communities that host them, recovery and resilience efforts, and community preparedness and risk reduction.

Donations can be made here.
