CKHA emergency physician facing more sex charges

Two more sex-related charges have been laid against an emergency physician at the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance (CKHA).

According to the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario, the new charges against Dr. Robert Nathanial Wismer were laid by Chatham-Kent police on October 25.

Wismer now faces a new sexual assault charge and another sexual interference charge to persons under 16 years old that allegedly occurred between September 28 and September 29.

The new charges are on top of the other sex-related charges that were already laid on October 14.

As a result, Wismer is under the following release conditions that were revised on October 25:

1.  Wismer must notify police of his address in writing within 24 hours of any change in address.

2.  Wismer must remain in Ontario.

3.  Wismer must not contact or communicate in any way either directly or indirectly, by any physical, electronic or other means, with named persons.

4.  Wismer must not be within 10 metres of any place where he knows named persons to live, work, go to school except for required court appearances.

5.  Wismer must not attend a public park or public swimming area where persons under the age of 16 years are present or can reasonably be expected to be present, or a daycare centre, school ground, playground or community centre except with another adult who is aware of these charges.

6.  Wismer must not be alone with any child under the age of 16, other than his biological children, except with another adult who is aware of these charges.

7.  Wismer must not possess any weapon(s) as defined by the Criminal Code.

CKHA previously said Dr. Wismer is not currently providing services at Chatham-Kent Health Alliance, adding it is reviewing the matter.

The doctor grew up in Thamesville.
