CK youth volunteers celebrated in Chatham

Nearly 50 youth from across Chatham-Kent were recently recognized for their outstanding volunteerism.

A celebration was held at the Capitol Theatre in Chatham Thursday night highlighting their dedication, generosity, leadership, and meaningful differences in their schools and communities.

The students were nominated by their school principals.

“Chatham-Kent is a growing community. You are its future, and seeing what you are already accomplishing gives me a great deal of confidence and hope for the direction we're headed,” said Mayor Darrin Canniff to the students in attendance. “I often talk about bringing more positivity into our community, and tonight is a perfect example of that positivity in action.”

They received an engraved award, a swag bag, and a $50 restaurant gift card at the ceremony.
