CK councillor takes on CMHA role

Melissa Sharpe-Harrigan is the new CEO for the Canadian Mental Health Association Lambton-Kent (CMHALK).

Harrigan began her new leadership position on March 30, with the opportunity arising as previous CEO Rhonny Doxtator plans to retire.

"We've had really strong leadership over the last few decades, and I'm starting in the position in a really great spot," said Harrigan.

To take on this role, she left her position as an Executive Lead with the Chatham-Kent Ontario Health Team.

"CMHALK does such great and important work in both Chatham-Kent (CK) and Sarnia-Lambton (SL)," Harrigan noted.

She explained big things are on the horizon for CMHALK, with a new strategic plan being announced in the coming weeks.

"A lot of the priorities that I have are very much in alignment with achieving that strategic plan," Harrigan continued. "Specifically, I think some big ticket items that CMHA is overseeing is a new heart hub in SL, and so that's a new program that is being offered in partnership across that county.

She added that there are lots of partnership opportunities in CK that she is hoping to develop.

The wife and mom of three is also well known for her role on CK council, where she represents West Kent.
