A woman who was set to be tried for murder has had her charges withdrawn after she died while in custody.
The court was told on Tuesday that Sky-Linn Holden was deceased, and her charges of first-degree murder and committing an indignity to a human body were withdrawn.
Her death is under investigation.
Holden was initially held at the South West Detention Centre in Windsor, but was transferred to the Elgin-Middlesex Detention Centre in London.
The Ministry of the Solicitor General is tight-lipped about the death, only saying it's "aware of the death of an inmate at the Elgin-Middlesex Detention Centre on February 1, 2026," adding that it can't provide any further details because any death at a correctional facility is subject to several investigations.
"Out of respect of those processes, further details cannot be provided," said a ministry spokesperson.
Holden was one of four people charged in connection with a murder in Chatham in the summer of 2024. The victim was 27-year-old Louise Thomson of Milton.
The other two accused, Jeffrey Davis and Shaquille Belle, are still in custody awaiting their legal processes to continue.
The murder trial for Davis is tentatively set for April 2026, but has yet to be confirmed because he's seeking a change in lawyer. His change was recently denied, and he is appealing the ruling.
Belle recently retained a lawyer after being charged with murder in September.
A fourth suspect, David Lozon of Chatham, was initially charged with first-degree murder, but had that charge dropped in September 2024 because the prosecution said there was not enough evidence and no reasonable prospect of conviction.
Lozon is currently out on bail, charged with committing an indignity to a human body and accessory after the fact to murder.
