CK police conclude 'successful' Festive RIDE campaign

The Chatham-Kent Police Service (CKPS) checked 2,894 vehicles during the annual Festive Holiday Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere (RIDE) Program.

The blitz started on November 20, 2025, and ran until January 1, 2026. It focused on reducing impaired drivers on local roads, as well as reminding drivers to plan a safe ride home.

During that time, Chatham-Kent police conducted 23 RIDE programs across the municipality, checking almost 3,000 vehicles and administering 15 roadside tests. While no drivers were arrested for impaired driving at the RIDE checks, police say there were 25 people arrested for impaired driving in Chatham-Kent during the time period in which the campaign was running.

The CKPS is calling the campaign a success, but reminds drivers that impaired driving enforcement will be ongoing throughout the year.
