CK 2025 budget process begins, public input sought

The 2025 budget process in Chatham-Kent will kick off on November 13 when the annual budget update will be presented to Council and tabled.

The municipality said it's the first opportunity for the public to view the document and give their feedback. The budget will be available for viewing on the municipal website at www.chatham-kent.ca/ourbudget beginning at 6 p.m. on November 13.

Community consultations will also take place on November 20 from noon to 1 p.m. and November 21 from 7-8 p.m. The community consultations will be held virtually on Chatham-Kent’s Facebook Live feed (www.facebook.com/MunicCK).

A brief summary of the 2025 annual budget update will be presented by administration at the beginning of each community consultation, followed by an opportunity for public input through a live question and answer session.

Council will hold budget deliberations on November 26, 27 and 28 with each session being held from 6-10 p.m. December 3 and 4 have been set aside if more time is needed.

Anyone wanting to make a deputation to Council regarding the budget can do it either at the opening meeting on November 13 or at the first night of deliberations on November 26.

Requests and submissions must be emailed to ckfps@chatham-kent.ca before noon on the above dates respectively.

All budget meetings will be held in-person in the Council Chambers at the Civic Centre and will be livestreamed on YourTV CK’s YouTube Channel.

General comments regarding the budget can be submitted anytime by emailing ckfps@chatham-kent.ca, regular mail to Budget & Performance Services, Municipality of Chatham-Kent, 315 King St. West, Chatham, Ontario N7M 5K8, or by calling 519-360-1998.
