Robbery

Chatham-Kent police arrested a 22-year-old following an alleged robbery.

Police said two young men were walking along the railroad tracks on Lacroix Street in Chatham at around 4:15 p.m. Saturday when a person not known to them allegedly pulled out a knife and demanded their belongings. Some items were handed over and a call to police was made.

Several officers flooded the general area and were able to track the movement of the suspect through several backyards. Police said the suspect ended up in an industrial fenced area.

The Chatham man has been charged with robbery, assault with a weapon and weapons dangerous. He was held for bail.

Liquor control act arrest

Police were called for a disturbance at around 2:50 a.m. Sunday morning in the area of King Street East and Princess Street in Chatham.

When officers arrived they saw an 18-year-old Chatham woman and a 21-year-old Dresden man who were highly intoxicated.

They were unable to care for themselves and were arrested and held in custody until sober.

Break and enter

Police responded to an alarm in progress just after 6 a.m. Sunday at a local business on Thames Street in Chatham.

When officers arrived they found the business insecure and one bicycle was stolen. It is described as a neutral coloured Giant bike.

Fail to remain

Police were called after a light pole was down on King Street in Chatham just after 1:30 a.m. on Sunday.

Witnesses say a vehicle had mounted the curb and knocked down a light pole before fleeing southbound. The fail to remain is under investigation and police are attempting to locate the driver.

Attempt break and enter

Officers were called just before 5 a.m. Sunday after a store owner heard a loud banging at the back of the building on St. Clair Street in Chatham.

The suspect did not gain entry and fled on foot. The area was checked by police and nothing was found.
