Police looking for assault suspects

Chatham-Kent Police are looking for a group of unknown men who allegedly attacked another group of three 20-year-old males just after midnight.

According to police the 20-year-olds had just left an establishment and were walking along King Street in Chatham.

Police said at around Fourth Street, a second group of men confronted them, and a fight broke out.

Police said the groups did not know each other and an officer was alerted to the fight after the disturbance had broken up. They were not able to locate the suspects.

One man was taken to hospital and treated for his injuries.

Fail to remain at scene of collision

Police are looking for a driver who left the scene of a crash early Saturday morning.

According to police, at around 2 a.m. a vehicle struck a traffic light pole at Park Avenue and Queen Street in Chatham.

The vehicle was severely damaged and police are asking anyone with information to please contact Constable Van Eyk (nicholasva@chatham-kent.ca) or Crime Stoppers.

Recovered stolen vehicle

A 37-year-old Chatham man has been arrested and charged with driving while under suspension.

According to police, while responding to an unrelated call officers were alerted to a stolen vehicle with the Automated License Plate Recognition System (ALPR).

The Chatham man was arrested, and the vehicle was returned to the owner. The stolen vehicle is still under investigation.

Three break and enters

Chatham-Kent police responded to three break and enters between July 4 and July 5.

According to police, sometime around 5 p.m. on Thursday unknown suspects entered a home on Victoria Avenue in Chatham and stole several items.

Over on Walnut Street in Dresden sometime in the early morning hours between Thursday and Friday, unknown suspects entered a residence and took several items from the home.

And police said that unknown suspects smashed the side door of a local business and removed tools, an Xbox and VR headset.

Anyone with information on any of these break and enters is asked to call police or Crime Stoppers.

Stolen trailer recovered in St. Clair Township traffic stop

Two Chatham-Kent residents were arrested in a traffic stop Tuesday night after they were seen with a trailer that was allegedly stolen nearly one year ago.
