Former Expos pitcher from Chatham to enter OBA Hall of Fame

Chatham's Bill Atkinson is headed into the Ontario Baseball Association (OBA) Hall of Fame.

The OBA announced the 2024 class earlier this week, which includes the pitcher who spent four seasons in Major League Baseball (MLB).

Atkinson broke into the majors with the Montreal Expos on September 18, 1976 when he was just 21 years old.

The righty pitched three scoreless innings against the St. Louis Cardinals.

Atkinson pitched 98 games during his career with the Expos, all out of the bullpen.

After retiring from pro ball in 1983, he returned home to Chatham where he coached and played senior ball until 1999.
