Men arrested for weapons violations

A 60-year-old Chatham-Kent man has been arrested for possessing and allegedly using a weapon he was banned from having.

CK police were called to Duke Street just after 8 a.m. on Thursday for a weapons investigation.

Police said that officers learned the man confronted a woman about blowing smoke out of her car window as she passed him on the street.

The man brandished a flip knife during the confrontation, police said. They added that there was a court order in place, prohibiting the man from possessing a weapon.

The suspect has been charged with assault with a weapon, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, and failing to comply with a release order.

The man has been held at the Southwestern Regional Detention Centre since his arrest. His next court appearance is scheduled for July 9.

A 34-year-old Chatham man is now facing weapon and drug charges after he was arrested on outstanding warrants.

Police located the wanted man on Delaware Avenue in Chatham, shortly after 2 p.m. on Thursday.

During his arrest, police said several weapons including an airsoft pistol, knife, and brass knuckles were found in his possession. Police said suspected cocaine was also seized from the suspect at that time.

The man faces multiple charges including possession of a prohibited weapon and possession of a controlled substance.

A Wallaceburg man wanted for breaching court conditions was arrested in Chatham.

CK police said the man was found Thursday afternoon while investigating suspicious activity at a business on Grand Avenue West.

Police said he was initially arrested for violating his court-ordered curfew when officers found a folding knife in his possession, which he was banned from having.

The 44-year-old's previous weapons charges involve ammunition and a gun.

He was arrested and taken to police headquarters pending a bail hearing.

Man wanted for fraud arrested for assault

CK police have arrested a 45-year-old Walpole Island in Wallaceburg.

Officers were called to Westcourt Boulevard on Thursday afternoon for an assault investigation. When they arrived, they learned that an altercation between the man and a woman resulted in an assault.

Police said that it was determined that the man was also wanted on an outstanding warrant for an April 2023 fraud investigation.

He currently is facing one count of fraud and two counts of assault.

Wanted woman turns herself in

Police said that a 25-yeard-old Wallaceburg woman turned herself in at police headquarters in Chatham-Kent.

It was determined that the woman didn't show up for court in relation to several investigations.

She is facing charges including theft, possession of stolen property, resisting arrest, uttering threats, assault causing bodily harm, failing to comply with an appearance notice, and two counts of failing to comply with a probation order.

Chatham-Kent police are working to make sure local roads are safe.

Charing Cross Road received some special attention from the Traffic Management Unit on Thursday.

Officers handed out 11 Provincial Offence Notices (PONs) and two warnings to drivers who weren't obeying the rules of the road.

Stolen trailer recovered in St. Clair Township traffic stop
