Two more new tenants could be moving in to the Bloomfield Business Park just southwest of Chatham, if Chatham-Kent Council approves the moves at their meeting Monday evening.
Chatham-Kent's Director of Economic Development Services Stuart McFadden said an unidentified company wants to buy approximately 9.2 acres of property in the Park for $818,800.
The company intends to build two buildings on the property. One structure will be 80,000 square feet which will be occupied by the owner and have four individual businesses operating in the light manufacturing, warehousing, cross-docking/logistics, and export distribution sectors. The other 20,000 square foot building will be available for lease to outside companies.
Officials anticipate the businesses will generate 57 new jobs with the potential for more growth and jobs.
The other unnamed company is offering to purchase approximately 3.25 acres of land in the Park for $289,250.
That company is a manufacturer in the greenhouse and automotive sectors that currently operates out of several buildings throughout Essex County and this purchase would consolidate these businesses under one roof and make them more efficient, according to McFadden.
Officials said the company intends to utilize the new facility for a combination of office space, the storage of construction materials, and light manufacturing operations.
The operation intends to create 15-25 new jobs.
If the agreements are approved, the municipality can buy back the property at its original purchase price, if construction does not start within one year of the date of the agreement.
