Three Spitfires Selected In First Round Of NHL Draft

For the first time in franchise history, three Windsor Spitfires have been drafted in the first round of the NHL Draft.

Defenceman Mikhail Sergachev, centre Logan Brown and defenceman Logan Stanley were taken in the top 20 picks of the 2016 NHL Draft on Friday at the First Niagara Center.

Sergachev was picked ninth overall by the Montreal Canadiens, the Ottawa Senators took Brown in the 11th pick, and Stanley was selected 18th overall by the Winnipeg Jets.

A Spitfires draftee, Clayton Keller, was also selected seventh overall by the Phoenix Coyotes in the first round of the draft. Keller was chosen by the Spitfires in the second round of the 2014 OHL Priority Selection, however, he is currently committed to play at Boston University next season.
