The union that represents workers at the Windsor Assembly Plant has informed its membership that the shutdown at the Windsor Assembly Plant is being extended by another week.
Earlier this month, the union said production would be halted the weeks of October 19, October 26, and November 2.
On Wednesday, Unifor Local 444 posted a notice on its social media pages that the shutdown would be extended a fourth week, to the week of November 9.
The notice said production workers should not report to work unless directed to by a supervisor, and skilled trades are expected to work.
Previously, a union spokesperson confirmed that Stellantis had cited tariffs and volume for the shutdown.
Contract talks between Stellantis and Unifor remain on pause.
Unifor members at Stellantis also recently voted 97.3 per cent in favour of strike action to support their bargaining unit.
A major roadblock in negotiations is Stellantis's plan to sell the Brampton Assembly Plant to defence industry supplier, Rochel.
Neither side has filed for a no-board report so far, so union officials have said a strike is not imminent.
