We are well into autumn, but preparations are underway for Windsor's holiday light extravaganza.
The second and third phases of set-up for Bright Lights Windsor are set to begin Tuesday at Jackson Park.
Preparations will include adding perimeter fencing to enclose the west side of the park, running along the Ouellette Avenue-Tecumseh Road intersection to the Ouellette overpass. Workers will also begin enclosing the Queen Elizabeth II Sunken Gardens area, plus the pergola and public washrooms.
Access to the park from the Tecumseh Road-Ouellette Avenue entrance will be closed.
The west side of the pathway running by the Royal Canadian Air Force Memorial will also be blocked off this week. People planning to attend Remembrance Day events will be asked to use Memorial Drive off McDougall Street.
All unaffected areas of the park will remain open.
Crews began working two weeks ago by fencing off the north end of the park along Tecumseh Road East and closing the service road north of the Queen Elizabeth II Sunken Gardens.
The fourth and final phase is scheduled to begin after Remembrance Day.
The holiday light display draws at least 100,000 visitors to Jackson Park every holiday season.
The 2026-27 edition of Bright Lights opens on Friday, November 27.
