A man accused of sexually assaulting three teens and one young woman in Chatham-Kent and Sarnia-Lambton in 1997 has pleaded guilty to committing the crimes.
Jason Davidson, 53, formerly of Chatham, admitted in Chatham court on Friday afternoon that he sexually assaulted the four women between March and August of 1997.
Davidson was arrested in Campbell River, British Columbia on October 26, 2025 on 15 charges of kidnapping, forcible confinement, uttering threats, sexual assault, aggravated sexual assault, sexual assault causing bodily harm, sexual assault with a weapon, and theft.
The prosecution told the court that all of the women were sexually assaulted in similar manners.
The court heard the victims were offered rides, asked to have sex for money, and taken to remote spots where they were violently sexually assaulted, including being pulled out of a car by their hair, being threatened with death and harm if they didn't comply with his demands, and being punched.
The prosecution noted Davidson was charged after a DNA hit, genealogy match, and his car matching the description of the suspected car.
One victim told the court during her victim impact statement that the sexual assault affected her relationships. She said she's scared to open up, is jumpy around intimacy, and blamed herself for dressing the way she did.
The other victim impact statements were submitted to the judge and were not read aloud in court.
Davidson told the court that he's sorry for his actions and understands the hurt that he caused. He added that he is profoundly remorseful and is no longer the man that committed those crimes nearly 30 years ago.
In a joint submission by the defence and prosecution, the judge was asked to consider a 13 year sentence, less time already served, as a fitting sentence.
Davidson is set to be sentenced on November 5.
