Local MPP named Parliamentary Assistant to the Minister of Transportation

The Member of Provincial Parliament for Lambton-Kent-Middlesex has a new role.

Steve Pinsonneault is the new Parliamentary Assistant to the Ontario Minister of Transportation, transitioning from his previous portfolios as Parliamentary Assistant to the Minister of Emergency Preparedness and Response and Parliamentary Assistant to the Minister of Rural Affairs.

Pinsonneault said he looks forward to getting to work in his new role.

"I look forward to bringing my hands-on experience in the transportation industry to this role, including managing maintenance for a trucking company, running a mechanic shop, and driving transport trucks earlier in my career," said Pinsonneault. "These experiences have given me a practical understanding of a key factor and the important role transportation plays in connecting our communities and supporting Ontario’s economy. I’m excited to work with the Ministry of Transportation as we continue our efforts to improve transportation across the province."

Pinsonneault will continue to serve as Deputy Government Whip and is pleased to have been reappointed to assist the Chief Government Whip in managing party discipline, coordinating caucus logistics, and maintaining legislative control for the governing party, including attendance and quorum, voting coordination, and committee management.

"I’m grateful for the opportunity to continue serving in this role and supporting our government’s work at Queen’s Park," he noted.

Premier Ford said the renewed team of parliamentary assistants will take on the critical work of supporting cabinet and delivering on the government’s ambitious plan to protect Ontario from President Trump’s tariffs while building the most competitive, flexible, and self-sufficient economy in the G7.

“I’m pleased to announce Ontario’s new and returning team of parliamentary assistants, who are working hard to deliver on our plan to protect Ontario,” said Premier Ford. “We have the right team in place in cabinet and across government to achieve our goal of building the most competitive, resilient and self-reliant economy in the G7, so we can protect workers and families in every corner of the province.”
