Windsor-Essex will turn out this weekend to keep the mission of a Canadian icon alive.
The Terry Fox Run will be held in communities across Canada this weekend, raising money for cancer research. In the region, runs are Sunday morning in Kingsville and Tecumseh.
"Driven by Terry’s courage and determination, we collaborate with and inspire people around the world to support and fundraise for bold, extraordinary research to end cancer," read the mission of the Terry Fox Foundation on its official website.
The Kingsville run will take place at Lakeside Park.
The start time on Sunday is 10:30 a.m., at the park pavilion. Participants are asked to meet at the parking lot entrance off Harold Cull Drive.

The Tecumseh Terry Fox Run will begin at 9 a.m. on Sunday at Green Acres Optimist Park on St. Gregory's Road. Registration will open at 8 a.m.
Distances of two and five kilometres are for the Tecumseh run also.
The route is accessible for bicycles, rollerblades, and wheelchairs.
More information on the Tecumseh run can be found on its official Facebook page.
The run is named after Terry Fox, a young man from British Columbia who lost a leg to osteosarcoma, a rare form of cancer.
In 1980, Fox began a Marathon of Hope, intending to run from east to west across Canada on his prosthetic leg to raise money for cancer research. He commenced his run at Cape Spear, Newfoundland in April, but was forced to stop in September east of Thunder Bay, Ontario, when his cancer returned and spread to his lungs.
Fox declined multiple requests by many Canadians to finish the run for him while he resumed cancer treatment, showing his intention to resume the run when he recovered. Fox died on June 28, 1981, at 22.
