WPS improving response times after 10 per cent increase last year

The Windsor Police Service's response time was up nearly 10 per cent in 2023.

It took officers an average of 11 minutes and 48 seconds to respond to priority one calls in 2023. The five-year average is 10 minutes and 23 seconds.

"We're now seeing that number go down. We've made some changes in deployment and some of the administrative parts of priorities. So now we're seeing we're actually going to calls quicker now," said Deputy Chief Jason Crowley.

Some of the increase may be attributed to the number of calls for service last year.

There were 139,190 911 calls made in 2023, around 387 per day. That's an 18 per cent increase from 2022.
