NHL Playoffs David Backes scored the OT winner as the St. Louis took game one over Chicago 1-0. Patric Hornqvist had a hat trick as Pittsburgh beat the Rangers 5-2, and Tampa edged the Red Wigns 3-2.

Four more NHL playoff series begin tonight, Philadelphia is in Washington, Florida hosts the Islanders, Dallas welcomes Minnesota and Los Angeles and San Jose renews their rivalry out west.

OHL Playoffs Niagara advances with a 3-1 win, sweeping Kingston in four straight games. Erie jumped out to a 3-1 series lead over Sault Sre. Marie with a 5-2 win.

NBA The Golden State Warriors notched their NBA record 73rd win of the season, beating Memphis 125-104. Kobe Bryant scored a whopping 60 points to close out his 20-year career as the Lakers topped Utah 101-96.

Toronto improved to a franchise best 56-26 with a 103-96 win in Brooklyn, despite resting a majority of their starters. Detroit beat Cleveland 112-110 in a round one preview

The Raptors opens up their series against Indiana Saturday at 12:30, the Pistons are in Cleveland for a 3pm tee off Sunday.

MLB Toronto his six doubles en route to a 7-2 win over the Yankees last night, Marcus Stroman starts in the series finale tonight. Jarrod Saltalamacchia launched a grand slam and Ian Kinsler hit a solo shot as the Tigers overpowered Pittsburgh 7-3, Jordan Zimmerman starts in a matinee at Comerica Park.

GOJHL PLAYOFFS Corey Pawley scored a pair of third period goals and added two assists as Caledonia knocked off Waterloo 5-2 in game one of the Sutherland Cup Cup semi finals. Game one of the other semifinals between London and Stratford is Saturday.

GLJCHL The Wallaceburg Lakers have a group of new owners who have big pans for the Junior C hockey club. Joseph Byrne of the Bryne Laus Hockey Corporation says it is taking a professional approach. Byrne's son and Dr. Boris Laus are other members of the ownership team. (Full story HERE)

LAMBTON COLLEGE BASKETBALL The men's team announced the addition of 6'6" forward Xavian Edwards, the women's team welcomes Tianna Marshall. Tianna's brother Jason plays for the men's team.

ON THIS DAY In 1960, the Montreal Canadiens became the only team to win five consecutive Stanley Cups. The Canadiens blanked the host Toronto Maple Leafs 4-0 to take the NHL final in four straight games. It was the last game of the 18-year career for legendary Habs winger Maurice ``The Rocket'' Richard.
