Work will begin this month on the Pulse Creek Bridge on London Line.
The roughly $4.7 million project includes the replacement of a water main for the Lambton Area Water Supply System, and the replacement of the bridge between Brigden and Waterworks roads.
Lambton County Manager of Public Works Matt Deline said work is scheduled to begin June 15.
"The work is going to take about 14 months and the completion is going to be in the summer of 2027," said Deline.
Work will be carried out in two phases.
"With the water main work, the majority of that will be done off the road and should not impact traffic flow," said Deline. "When phase one of the bridge replacement starts, traffic will be reduced to one lane over the structure with temporary traffic signals. When phase two commences late fall 2026, there will be two-way traffic with reduced lane widths."
The County of Lambton said signage will go up in advance of the work start date, advising motorists of speed reductions to 60 km/h.
"Being on London Line, which is the emergency detour route (EDR) for Highway 402, it was important that we maintained traffic along County Road 22/London Line," said Deline. "So doing it in this phased and staged configuration, will allow traffic to continue to travel on London Line."
In 2025, the County of Lambton set aside about $1.8 million towards the bridge replacement, and additional funding was included in the 2026 budget.
The County of Lambton Public Works Department is responsible for the operation and upgrade of approximately 650 kilometres of roads and over 186 bridges and major culverts.
