Man charged after allegedly using cloned 3D-printed license plates

A Sarnia man is facing several charges after allegedly using cloned 3D-printed license plates.

On Tuesday, January 20, officers were patrolling near London Road and Mitton Street when they ran the plates of a black Audi, but the information from the query did not match the vehicle.

The vehicle was pulled over, and police allege the driver could not provide any of the required documents and said it was not his vehicle.

The driver reportedly told the officer who he was, and when officers searched his name, they found he was a suspended driver under the Criminal Code, twice over.

After inspecting the vehicle, police found the attached license plates were 3D-printed and there were also two more 3D-printed plates underneath, all of which had been "cloned."

The man was arrested and is facing several charges, including two counts of possession of forged document.
