The Sarnia Legion Branch 62 has tallied how much was raised through the latest Catch the Ace Lottery fundraiser.
The event raised a total of $654,910 over 46 weeks.
On July 18, the winner of the fundraiser was named after the Ace of Spades was selected.
Out of the money raised, $196,473 goes to grand prize winner Paul Mantha who selected the lucky envelope number 33, and also took home the weekly prize of $34,806.
Half of the money raised will then go towards the Sarnia Legion Lottery Fund.
This equals to $327,455 and the remaining $130,982 went to the weekly financial prizes for the 44 winners during the campaign.
"The Sarnia Legion Lottery Fund allows us to support important causes. While our top priority is supporting our veterans and families, we are committed to contributing to those doing good across our community by donating to local non-profit organizations, community events and initiatives improving the wellbeing of Sarnians," said President Ron Realesmith.
The Lottery Fund also allows for the Legion to contribute to its 2024 Centennial Building Campaign.
In the coming months Legion members will vote on where to distribute the funds.
The next Catch the Ace campaign will kick off in the fall.
