Fire destroys Inwood area home

A home believed to have been built within the past five years was destroyed by a fire in southeast Lambton Thursday night.

Petrolia and North Enniskillen Fire Department Chief Jay Arns said they received a call for assistance from Brooke-Alvinston Fire Rescue around 8:30 p.m., to fight a fully involved house fire and three vehicles on fire, just outside of Inwood on Shiloh Line.

He said luckily no one was injured.

"Everybody was out of the structure, no firefighter injuries, the fire was under control fairly quickly once crews arrived on scene," Arns said. "Everybody escaped because they had working smoke alarms."

Volunteers from Oil Springs Fire also assisted.

"It's a complete loss, 100 per cent. A total write-off. I believe the house was [built] in 2017."

Arns said the cause is undetermined at this time.

"These ones are really tough to determine a cause in because it's so far gone. There's very little remaining structurally to help pinpoint it, but investigations will take place to figure out what happened."

Arns was impressed by the mutual aid provided by all of the departments.

"Everybody came together at a time in need and we got lots of water on the scene. Everybody worked well as a team."

Arns said the Petrolia and Oil Springs fire departments were released from the scene at around 11 p.m.
