Pot Plant Production Start A Joint Effort (VIDEO & GALLERY)

Cannabis cultivation is officially underway at High Park Farms in Enniskillen.

Thousands of live marijuana plants arrived at the $30-million, state-of-the-art greenhouse on Lasalle Line last week.

It took 36 hours and a journey of more than 4,100 km to transfer the plants from Vancouver Island to Lambton County.

High Park says the carefully choreographed trip involved a team of drivers, pilots, growers, production managers and security personnel.

The plants rode an early-morning ferry from Nanaimo, British Columbia to Horseshoe Bay, then departed from Vancouver International Airport on a chartered, cargo-configured, Boeing 757.

Once they landed at Hamilton International Airport, the plants were loaded into climate-controlled tractor trailers for the final leg of their journey.

The Enniskillen facility features a 13 acre greenhouse on 100 acres of property.

The first harvest is expected in June.

Recreational marijuana use is expected to be legalized in Canada later this year.
