Three Sarnia residents are making a diaper run to Texas Thursday to drop off donations of diapers and baby supplies.
Peter Kindrachuck, a retired city police constable, says a post on Facebook garnered tons of community support, and they've nearly filled a 20 ft trailer for the Texas Diaper Bank in San Antonio.
He says they'll be collecting donations of diapers at the Canatara Beach parking lot from 1pm until 3pm Wednesday.
"I put a call out on Facebook and it kind of blew up," says Kindrachuck. "We are narrowing our request to diapers only, we have lots of other items and right now we feel that diapers are the best option."
He says those who wish to make a monetary donation are encouraged to donate directly to the diaper bank online at www.texasdiaperbank.org.
Kindrachuck, his wife and and retired Sarnia firefighter Kyle McKelvie, are leaving for Texas first thing Thursday morning for the 24 hour drive.
The Sarnia Police Association, Sarnia Fire Association, Bluewater Power, local unions and other businesses including Glen Fenwick Motors have helped with transportation costs as well.
