Employee assaulted in Downtown Chatham

A 20-year-old Chatham man is facing an assault charge after he allegedly attacked an employee at a business on King Street West in Chatham early Monday morning.

Police said they were called to the scene shortly after 12:30 a.m. Monday and found the man nearby, adding that he was intoxicated at the time.

Officers arrested the man and took him to police headquarters, where he was set to be held until he sobered up.

He was charged with assault and was later released with conditions and a future court date.

Man allegedly pulls knife after being asked to leave

A 52-year-old Chatham-Kent man is facing a pair of charges after he allegedly pulled out a knife on a security guard when he was asked to leave a property in Chatham.

Officers said they were called to the scene on Grand Avenue West for an assault investigation over the weekend and learned that the man had been directed to leave the property, but refused.

While he was being escorted off the property by security, the man allegedly became argumentative and pulled out a knife.

Police said security was able to talk the man into de-escalating the situation, which led to the man throwing the knife to the floor.

When police arrived, they arrested the man and charged him with assault with a weapon and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose. He was later released with conditions and a future court date.

Chatham woman arrested for kicking in man's door

A 31-year-old Chatham woman is charged with mischief after she allegedly kicked in the door of a man's residence while she was arguing with him Sunday evening.

Officers said they were called to the residence on McNaughton Avenue West for a disturbance just before 7 p.m. Sunday.

The woman was arrested and taken to police headquarters before she was released with conditions and a future court date.

Man wanted for bail violation turns himself in

A 24-year-old Chatham man who was wanted for violating his bail conditions made it easy for police to find him over the weekend.

Police said the man showed up at CK police headquarters and turned himself in to police.

He was arrested and later released with a future court date.

He is currently charged with assault and failing to comply with an undertaking.
