Chatham-Kent receives over $1.6M for operation of OLG casino

The Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation (OLG) has given its annual payment to the municipality for operating one of its casinos.

This year, Chatham-Kent brought in $1,652,698 for running Gateway's Cascades Casino Chatham.

"OLG is proud to be a vital part of the Municipality of Chatham-Kent," said Kathleen Devine, OLG's Senior Municipal Relations Manager. "Each and every year, 100 per cent of OLG profits are reinvested in Ontario to support provincial priorities."

According to the municipality, these funds are used annually to offset the costs of all municipally delivered services, as well as fund municipal grants, support for community groups, events, public art, and community initiatives.

"I'm continuously blown away by the funds that we receive through our partnership with OLG. These funds represent a significant investment in our community and help fund many of the great things we’re seeing come to fruition throughout CK," Mayor Darrin Canniff said.

This year's total is down slightly from 2023's installment of $1,692,836.

Since the casino opened in April 2001, Chatham-Kent has made $17,799,465.
