Go Fund Me campaign created following 11-year-old boy's tragic death

The death of Aiden Curtis has left a hole in the Curtis family and in the St. Thomas community.

According to his family, Aiden was a fun, sweet soul who brought happiness to those around him. A newly created Go Fund Me campaign describes him as someone whose "presence illuminated every room he entered."

Aiden died Tuesday when he, along with four others, was hit by a pickup truck that was being driven by an allegedly impaired driver.

A Go Fund Me campaign was created Wednesday in an effort to help the Curtis family cope with the unexpected funeral costs. As of Thursday morning, more than $13,000 had been donated.

The Curtis family expressed its appreciation on the Go Fund Me page, saying "They are truly grateful for the compassion and empathy shown during this darkest chapter of their lives."

Anyone interested in donating to the fund can find it here.
