Inaugural CK Run for Kids raises $80K

Enthusiastic and determined runners have helped the Children’s Treatment Centre Foundation (CTCF) raise $80,000 to support local children and their families.

The first annual charity run took place at Rondeau Provincial Park on Sunday.

Officials with the Foundation said the event was a "grand success" with 250 participants and an "overwhelming show of support" from the community.

The CTCF said 40 of the participants were kids under 12.

The participants were also treated to live music, a BBQ, as well as crafts and activities for children.

The Run for the Kids event exceeded all expectations, both in terms of participation and funds raised, and managed to attract a diverse range of participants, including individuals, families, corporate teams, and local organizations, according to CTCF.

“The success of the event can also be attributed to our participants and their supporters, our sponsors, volunteers and staff that worked together to pull this event off.” said Foundation President Mike Genge. “The dedication and hard work of everyone involved was instrumental in creating a memorable experience, all for our CTC kids and families.”

The CTC Foundation said not all services at the Children’s Treatment Centre are covered by government funding and programs like Social Work, Therapeutic Recreation Services, and Music Therapy are all funded by the CTC Foundation and the run proceeds means families will continue to receive support by accessing these services.
