The chair of the Chatham-Kent Police Services Board is joining a provincial board that helps govern services across Ontario.
Pat Weaver was recently elected as vice-chair of the Ontario Association of Police Services Boards (OAPSB). The branch helps local police boards by creating networking and training opportunities. It also advocates for improvements to public safety laws and regulations.
"[Weaver] was elected vice-chair of the OAPSB because his peers recognize him as a highly accomplished leader in police governance in Ontario," said Eli El-Chantiry, OAPSB board chair. "We are extremely fortunate to have him on our board of directors.”
In the meantime, Chatham-Kent's Police Chief Gary Conn said Weaver is the first person on the local police board to gain an executive position on the OAPSB.
“We are extremely proud of Mr. Weaver’s appointment," said Conn. "Well done and congratulations.”
The annual executive election with the OAPSB also saw Eli El-Chantiry of the Ottawa Police Service remain at his position as chair. Phil Huck from Waterloo Regional Police Service will also remain as the deputy-vice-chair.
