OPP Officer Administers Naloxone To Unresponsive Man

The quick reaction of a Grey County OPP officer may have saved the life of a man.

The officer responded to a report of an unresponsive male at a residence on Hwy. 10 in the Township of Chatsworth early Monday morning.

The man had no vital signs, and the officer immediately started to perform CPR. The man did not respond, so the officer administered Naloxone. The man started to breathe but remained unconscious.

Grey County Paramedic Services rushed the man to hospital where he regained consciousness.

The 40-year old victim is expected to make a full recovery.

Naloxone can help temporarily reverse an opioid overdose. OPP officers are equipped with a Naloxone kit and are trained to use it in an emergency.

The Good Samaritan Drug Overdose Act provides legal protection for people who call 911 or need help during an overdose. For information on where to get a Naloxone kit visit, www.ontario.ca/Overdose.
