The investigation into the deaths of a man and woman found inside a northwest London highrise last fall has been completed, but the outcome won't be made public.
London police announced on Tuesday the Office of the Chief Coroner with the assistance of its officers had wrapped up the case into the September 7 deaths. It was around 4 p.m. on that date that police were called to an apartment building at 565 Proudfoot Lane near Oxford Street and Beaverbrook Avenue. Inside a sixth-floor unit, the bodies of a man and woman were found. A firearm was also seized from the scene.
Post-mortem examinations carried out in the days that followed determined the pair died as a result of gunshot wounds.
At the time, investigators stated that they believed the pair were known to each other and that there was no risk to public safety.
Police said Tuesday that the families of the man and woman have been notified about the outcome of the investigation.
There had been speculation within the community that the deaths were the result of a murder-suicide, something police would not confirm.
"The London Police Service is unable to provide any additional information with respect to the manner of death or involved parties’ names due to restrictions provided within privacy legislation. Such restrictions remain in death," police said in a statement.
