A man is facing numerous charges after a police officer was allegedly dragged by a vehicle while trying to make an arrest.
According to police, it happened on Thursday in the area of Elias Street and Adelaide Street North after officers located a man who was wanted on an outstanding warrant.
When police attempted to arrest the man, he fled on foot and got into a vehicle. An officer tried to arrest the man while he was in the vehicle and the two got into a brief struggle. The man then drove away and the officer was dragged a short distance.
Additional officers responded to the scene and were able to locate the man and the vehicle. The officer suffered minor injuries as a result of the incident.
As a result of this investigation, 53-year-old Jeffrey Dupee of London is facing charges of dangerous operation of a vehicle, failing to stop for police, escaping lawful custody and resisting arrest. These charges have not been proven in court.
