A 24-year-old London man is in critical condition after catching fire trying to start an outdoor blaze in home fire pit. Fire officials say last night, two men were tying to start a fire in a pit that had been soaked with rain. A pot with dry wood was placed in the pit and gasoline was added, but when it was poured the fire raged out of control. The victim, covered with liquid gas and gasoline vapours caught fire and was seriously burned. The second man was uninjured and the fire did not spread to the property. The fire department says no one should ever use accelerants such as gas on an open burn. Open fire pits must only use clean, dry wood.
