Businesses of Chatham-Kent, the Kiwanis Club needs your help.
After the success of their "Bottles for Books" campaign in May, the Kiwanis Club of Chatham-Kent is now on the hunt for a permanent location for people to donate their empties.
"So many people keep contacting me about where they can drop bottles off," said Kiwanis Club of Chatham-Kent Membership Chair Jenn Paradis. "That's when we decided it would be a great idea to find a permanent location."
The main requirement for a business that might be thinking of getting involved would be an outdoor area where a bin could be located.
"Anybody that has the room for us to place a container...anywhere that is not going to cause them a problem," said Paradis. "One of our members is a teacher and he is planning on asking the welding department to see if they can create a container for us."
And just like the "Bottles for Books" campaign that ran back in May, the money from the donated bottles would go towards initiatives like the Dolly Parton Imagination Library.
"We are constantly having more children from CK sign up for it," said Paradis. "We want to support as many kids as we can. It's such a great program."
The Dolly Parton Imagination Library is an initiative that promotes the love of reading and literacy in kids ages zero to five by sending registered kids a book each month.
"I've spoken to a lot of kids in Chatham-Kent who receive it and they say it's just the most exciting thing to get something in the mail that's just for them," said Paradis. "We have 437 children that we support in Chatham-Kent right now."
