The Chatham-Kent U12 Wildcats have reached the top of the provincial mountain.
The team's excellent showing in an Ottawa tournament clinched a gold medal for the girls.
The Wildcats went undefeated in pool play.
They made a statement in their first tournament game beating the Toronto Triple Threat (TTT) Club 44-19.
That dominance continued in the next game, when the Wildcats captured a 41-29 victory over a familiar foe in the Oxford Attack.
The third game was much closer, but the Wildcats held off the Collingwood Trailblazers 31-27 to secure their spot in the championship game.
In the gold medal game, CK was up against the hometown Ottawa Stars.
Even with a loud home crowd, a key player fouling out, and the Wildcats being down by nine, that wouldn't stop the team from pushing back.
Clutch three pointers, rebounds, and free throws were all CK would need to get control of the game back.
When the buzzer sounded, the score read 39-33 for the Wildcats, clinching their title of provincial champions.
"This championship marks a special moment for this team.... the (CK) Wildcats showed heart, teamwork, and resilience throughout the tournament, leaving everything on the court and proving themselves as true champions," the team said in a statement.
